Zachary Derrick
BOARD MEMBER
Zachary Derrick is a U.S. Navy veteran, strategic advisor, and global development advocate with a strong track record of leadership across government, defense, and entrepreneurial ventures.
He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in Economics and later earned his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, where he focused on strategy, finance, and global leadership. During his military career, Zachary served as a Naval Flight Officer with operational experience across the U.S. and Europe. His time in uniform shaped a lifelong commitment to public service and international impact.
Zachary later joined the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, where he led biosecurity and strategic health initiatives within Iraq. In this role, he worked closely with the Iraqi Ministry of Health to strengthen laboratory infrastructure, improve disease surveillance, and support U.S. diplomatic and defense objectives, deepening his passion for sustainable, locally led development solutions.
Today, Zachary is a senior financial consultant supporting strategic transformation initiatives within the U.S. Department of the Navy. He advises senior leaders on enterprise-wide modernization efforts and is known for his ability to integrate people, processes, and data to drive measurable outcomes. He is also working to bring an urban winery to Northern Virginia, combining his entrepreneurial drive with a passion for hospitality and community-building.
