Health Care

Give Us Wings addresses health care in eastern Uganda through its clinic, St. John's Kayoro Health Center. The clinic provides affordable, quality health care to thousands of people each year.

St. John’s Kayoro Health Center (SJKHC) was built in response to the community’s concern that they had no nearby access to quality health care.

For even basic medical services, people had to travel over 9 miles to reach the care they needed. Women were often giving birth on the side of the road, and children were dying needlessly because they simply couldn’t access immunizations.

Over the years, SJKHC has grown from a single small building to a campus comprising the clinic building, a maternity ward, in-patient wards, and staff housing. In an area which previously had no health care facility at all, SJKHC now provides top-notch care to over 20,000 patients annually. Services include emergency care, prenatal care, immunizations, and treatment for common diseases such as malaria and diabetes.

In addition to on-site treatments, our clinic brings basic health care to more rural areas where people have very limited access to transportation. At these health outreaches, clinic staff offer services such as:

  • Blood pressure testing

  • Tests for HIV/AIDS and malaria

  • Family planning counseling

  • Vitamin delivery

  • Vaccinations
