Picnic with a Purpose

A park near the Mississippi River in Saint Paul was the site for a recent picnic for US partners in the Family to Family program. In between snacks and games, guests enjoyed talking with one another and with Give Us Wings staff — about their Family to Family partners and the program in general. Update reports and photos for each guest helped shed light on how the student is doing in school in Uganda, how the parents are doing with their businesses, and about the overall health of the family.

Guests took the opportunity to write letters to their Uganda partner families, sharing updates about their life in the US and offering encouraging words. Photos and letters were scanned and sent to the office in Uganda where they will be printed out and hand-delivered to the children and their families!

A key component of the Family to Family program is fostering a connection between the families in the US and in Uganda. This picnic in the park provided an opportunity for a deeper connection.
