- Ngiyo Ber Women's Group Project
Tororo, Uganda
These courageous women, living in unimaginable conditions in the slums of Tororo, are determined to feed and educate their children. Funds raised will be used to purchase land, build 35 small homes, and establish a community farm. Give Us Wings will also provide the women with business and health education. Together we will move these families to a life of health, self-sufficiency and safety.
- Kayoro Farmers Group Project
Tororo, Uganda
Kayoro is a group of farmers working with 99 guardians in their village to care for hundreds of orphans in their village. They are repairing homes, forming small business groups, and increasing organic agriculture projects. Give Us wings USA is paying school fees for 150 orphans.
- Nyaoga Water Project
Nyaoga, Kenya
Give Us Wings Designated Giving project for 2007. Give Us Wings hopes to raise enough funds to pipe water from an existing source 3km to the Medical Clinic and another 3km to the town. The water project will mean clean drinking water, free of disease for over 20,000 people in the area.
- Medical Care Project
Tororo, Uganda
This pilot project collaborates with a local physician and his clinical staff to treat 50 members of the Kayoro group. The overall goal is to eventually treat all members of the Kayoro Community and other Give Us wings groups in Tororo.
- Mari Group: People with Disabilities
Tororo, Uganda
Mari is a group of 35 people with various physical challenges. They are working to improve their businesses so that they can support themselves and their families. In partnership with a local non-profit Give Us Wings, the people are receiving medical care and implements that they need such as wheel chairs.
- Geno Women's Group Project
Tororo, Uganda
This is the second group of women to form in the Bison slums. Two years old, the group has participated in business and group dynamics training. They participate in a revolving loan fund. They would like to operate a solar village bakery to help them meet their familiesŐ needs. Their ultimate goal is to build homes outside of the slums.
- Maasai Women's Group
Ngong, Kenya
A group of pastoral women who diligently make and sell their intricate bead work. They have a goat sharing project which they would like to expand.
- Maasai Mother's Literacy Group
Ngong, Kenya
This group of young women, along with some of their husbands, attends school daily in a 12x18 foot room they helped to construct in the middle of the Rift Valley. They are also divided into small enterprise groups and have a goat sharing project.
- Rangi School Partnership
Ngong, Kenya
A group of local women voluntarily operate a school for 150 children who live in the Rongai slums. The school is free and provides one meal a day for the children who otherwise would not attend school. Give Us Wings helps to pay the teachers a small salary and supports business projects aimed at making the school self sufficient.
- Young Women with HIV/AIDS Group
Ngong, Kenya
Two newly formed groups of young women who are HIV positive have participated in health care education and are beginning small businesses.
- Elder Women's Group
Ngong, Kenya
These older women care for their orphaned grandchildren. With an initial investment of $6.00 each, they have developed a successful basket making project which provides money for food and school fees for their grandchildren.
- Victoria Young Women's Group
Nyaoga, Kenya
These women ages 16-24 had to leave school in primary grades. Many are married and have children. They now attend school
daily at the Give Us Wings Women's Education Center. They are working to complete an 8th grade education which will permit them to attend
secondary or technical schools.
- Aarosa Carpentry Youth Project
Nyaoga, Kenya
The Aarosa Carpentry Youth Group trains young people for two years. These apprentices and their instructors
make a variety of pieces of furniturechairs, beds, cabinets, chest of drawers, tables, etc. Give Us Wings provides scholarships
for the apprentices who after they complete their training move into their own businesses or are employed by others.
- Medical Clinic Project
Nyaoga, Kenya
The Medical Clinic was requested after years of high turnout and desperate need at the Give Us Wings Health camps held in the area.
Brought to the community by the hard work of Give Us Wings and the Victoria Women's Group the medical clinic was completed in late 2006 and will be fully staffed and running by the summer of 2007.
- Nyaoga Women's Group
Nyaoga, Kenya
This group of 32 women is the inspiration behind the building of the Nyaoga Health Clinic. They have had extensive training in group dynamics, management, business, and health care training. They will manage the health clinic which will be self sustainable. They also have a revolving loan fund for their businesses.
- Tiwi Midwive's Group
Ukunda, Kenya
This group delivers many babies each year using their training and birthing kits made by women in the USA. They also have a successful poultry project. They receive business grants and loans to build their personal businesses.
- Mawazwo Women's Group
Ukunda, Kenya
Each member of this group owns a sewing machine and has received tailoring training. In addition they have small individual businesses which are growing thanks to loans and grants from Give Us Wings.
- Malewano Women's Group
Ukunda, Kenya
This is a group of independent business women who are developing small enterprises such as cafes, animal husbandry, and Kanga selling.
- Family Group
Ukunda, Kenya
Micro finance projects helping the families start and run businesses. Medical care is provided for the families.
- Tiwi Young Women's Group
Ukunda, Kenya
This group runs a tailoring project which makes and sells school uniforms and clothing for women and children. They also participate in literacy training.
